Last year I purchased all of Roald Dahl's books on audio CD (used, of course). We ended up listening to them in the car all summer, and it made all our time in the car more bearable. It's funny how car trips stack up over the summer, between swimming lessons, shopping trips, and ice-cream runs.
This week I had to run an errand with the kids, but I knew Red Chief would balk because he's not a huge fan of going places unless there's something in it for him. But once I remembered the CDs, Red Chief was excited to go. On the way home he begged me to take a longer route so he could hear what came next.
I think we have a new tradition! Sometimes the best traditions aren't intentionally created: they just happen.
