Books for a four-year-old

It's been quite awhile since I've shared some of our favorite books with you. I'll do Tiger Lily today, and Red Chief sometime soon.

The Flicka Ricka Dicka books by Maj Lindman. Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka are three sisters who all look (and dress) exactly the same. Four-year-old Tiger Lily and I are both enchanted with them. If you have a boy, there is a similar series about Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr by the same author.

Chester by Mélanie Watt. Mélanie is trying to write a book, but her opinionated cat Chester keeps making changes. Both my kids have absolutely loved this book and laughed and pored over it.

Millions of Cats by Wanda Gág. I loved this book as a child and now Tiger Lily loves me to read it to her.
"Hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats."

If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen. Tiger Lily and seven-year-old Red Chief were both enchanted with this book, in which a boy describes his ideal (and fantastic) car. This book caused much conversation about and drawing of fantasy cars from both children.

  1. There are a couple other Chester books, too. My boys have really enjoyed those.

    1. Thanks for the heads up! I didn't know. We'll get them at the library.
