Cooking with kids

I've been trying to let my kids help more in the kitchen lately. Sometimes it tries my patience, but overall, I think it's beneficial for us all—I get to spend more time with my kids, and they get to learn how to cook.

Today I'm sharing ten tips for cooking with kids at Homemaker's Challenge.

  1. Dianna
such a good post.. I too, think it is so important for our children
[both girls and boys] to learn to cook..
I remember when my kids were young and at home, I sometimes would send them out of the kitchen because of being in a hurry or just not wanting to deal with the messes they made..
But, I did spend quiet a bit of time in the kitchen with both of them. after they got to be pre teenagers, they would come to the
kitchen to talk to me about their lives, and what was going on .ha
And now they both can cook and love to cook.. I am so thankful. I miss the kitchen talks now.ha

    1. Yes, sometimes I kick out the kids too, especially if I'm in a hurry or if they're arguing. It works better to have them help me if I leave some extra time.

  2. I found your blog site on google and check several of the early posts. Continue to keep up the good work. I just added up your RSS feed to my MSN News Reader. Looking forward to reading through far more from you later on!

  3. I just read a great article in the NYT about the importance of children learning to cook. Your kids will thank you one day!

  4. Being 18 and only just learning to cook whilst at a homestay, I can safely say that the earlier you start the better. And I still try the patience of whoever is cooking with me.
