Simple strawberry syrup

Sometimes in the morning, I wish I could think of a little something to make breakfast special. Unfortunately, my brain doesn't work any too well in the morning, so that rarely happens. However, I am planning to make this easy, fresh-tasting strawberry syrup for breakfast soon.

Simple strawberry syrup (adapted from here)

1 1/2 cups whole frozen strawberries
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons water

Microwave strawberries until quite soft (but don't let them get so cooked they start losing color). Put in the blender with sugar and water, and blend well.

  1. Try this Berry Sauce Recipe if you prefer something without sugar.
    We add this to plain yogurt, pour it over whole wheat waffles etc.

    * ¾ cup frozen berries
    * 1 ½ – 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (depending on how sweet you like it)
    * ¼ cup water

    Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a light simmer. Cook until the berries have softened, about 5 – 10 minutes. Remove from heat and puree with hand immersion blender or counter top blender. Use immediately or store in the fridge for later.
