Help! Celery!

Today I received three bunches of celery in my bountiful basket. I have a hard time getting through even one bunch in a week—the only place I really like it is in soups.

Can you help me? I need ideas!


  1. I don't have any good ideas, but you can't always chop it up and freeze what you can't use right away.

  2. Our favorite is 'cream of celery soup'. It uses up quite a bit of it and...it's delicious!

    We use the recipe from the old Better Homes and Garden Book. My kids LOVE it too!

  3. We like to spread some Old English cheese in celery. Old English cheese comes in a little glass jar but is sometimes hard to find. Also, Peanut Butter is good in it. Celery in a stir fry is also good.

  4. I was going to suggest stir-fry. We use it in soups, but celery is hard for us because it's not something I like to eat just plain. You could definitely chop it and freeze it like Richelle suggested.

  5. Make soups and freeze them in blocks. Or make ants on a log with the kids. Annalise made ants on a log at school and was so into it. Good luck.

  6. Mirepoix makes everything better. Saute diced celery, onions and carrots until they sweat and brown and it makes any soup amazing. It is also good in meatloaf, chili, marinara sauce etc. You can also dice the mix up and then freeze it in little bags for later if you can't get through it all. My husband hates celery (and carrots) but if I make mirepoix, he can not get enough of what ever I put it into.

    I love celery in stir fry too. Especially with chicken, onions and a lot of black pepper.
