Joseph Smith and the Restoration

Here's a simple explanation of the origins of my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

  1. Whenever I share the basic belief I've had for the past 5 years or so with another person, it becomes a situation of "I agree with you even though you won't agree with me." I've found myself to be more of a Universalist in nature. I believe that God, or the Beyond, is so huge and diverse that with each of our beliefs and practices and experiences, we do capture part of the truth. I don't discount anyone's beliefs as false, and I accept whatever people tell me is the truth. Not just because it's "the truth for them", but because I don't think God would allow someone to start any religion on something if it wasn't true in some way. I explained this to two (very handsome!) LDS missionary boys, and they were like, "Well, yes... but... no...." Hope that makes sense. I don't think I have a label. I am thankful for all of my religious experiences, even the very negative ones, because they were put in my life for a reason. Hope that makse sense. I just trust that we're all where we need to be
