Baby's favorite books

At ten months, Tiger Lily is already showing decided opinions. She even has favorite books—don't let anyone tell you that babies are all the same! (Here are some of Red Chief's favorites from the same age.)

Where is Baby's Belly Button? by Karen Katz. Tiger Lily loved this library find so much that we got her her own copy so she could enjoy the flaps without restraint (I was too worried about ripping the library copy).

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle. Tiger Lily will sit on the bottom step for minutes at a time, just flipping through the pages of this book. We read it together before bed and she loves the rhythm. As a bonus, it's repetitive, simple, and linked to the illustrations closely enough that three-year-old Red Chief can "read" it to her.

Elmer's Friends by David McKee. I have to admit that this isn't my favorite book. I can't stand the text, which to me is just overly simple and silly. But I do like the pictures, and so does Tiger Lily.

Baby Animals by DK Publishing. Tiger Lily and Red Chief both love to lift the flaps on this board book. Tiger Lily also enjoys waving to the animals and talking to them.

  1. Annalise loved a couple of those, too, especially "Brown Bear". There are some sequels to it as well, and every now and then Borders sells the set to benefit some charity.

  2. Thanks so much for sharing your daughter's favorites. I may have to check out a few for my little girl. She has some favorites right now also. I may post them to help me remember.

  3. I don't think my babies have ever really gotten into those books. Kaia loves Eric Carle. Mo loved all the I Spy books, and really enjoys the new ones made for older kids so that it's more difficult.

The boys definitely have favorite toys. They have 2 soft books that have the chewy corners, and pictures. THere is also a ball that they love!
