Resolution: Week 2

In keeping with my resolution, this week I finished putting away the Christmas decorations. The mantel looked quite empty without the nativity set, so I filled it up with milk glass I've been collecting from the thrift store.

The vases are all empty, but the footed bowl holds some apple blossom amaryllis flowers that Red Chief broke off my plant (it had five blooms but is now down to one).

Thanks to Anna for the milk glass decorating tip.

  1. I wonder if they make milk glass whisks? Seriously, I think it looks very nice. -Karen

  2. Wow, I think it looks really great! I have been inspired lately by your thrift shop collections--you find some really great things--and now I am considering starting my own collection. I need new plates and thought that maybe I would collect all white ones. I bet I could find some good ones!

I love your new plates by the way. I love blue so anything with blue I just am drawn to.

  9. I'm not sure what milk glass is, or what the equivalent would be here in Northern Ireland, but I am sure that your mantle is absolutely beautiful! So classic and simple, really wonderful!

  19. Wow, is that really your mantle? It's BEAUTIFUL! Milk glass is perfect for its bright whiteness. I had some milk glass heirlooms when I was married. No one told me not to put them in the dishwasher.
