Sometimes you need to clean your cleaning supplies

I grew up in a home where the washer and dryer lived in a bathroom, which was cleaned weekly (if my sisters and I were reminded sufficently). I never realized how messy a laundry room can get!

I gave this room a good scrubbing a month or two after we moved in, and last week it needed another. Lint gets everywhere and manages to stick a bit. The shelf gets cluttered. The top of the washer and dryer get piled up with stuff.

I also covered the top of my washer and dryer with grippy drawer liner stuff because my mom recommended it. I like it! It will keep the tops from getting scratched up and it adds a little punch of color to this drab little room.

  2. Great Job! A little hint if your getting lint everywhere like you said check to make sure your exhaust on your dryer is hooked up all the way. That will cause lint to go all over the place. :) Sometimes I will hit mine with the vacuum since it gets stored next to the dryer and it will pull it off the vent heading outside just a little but enough so that when the dryer is on I can feel the humidty in the laundry room and lint catches on the walls. But since I use my clothesline more I don't notice this right when I do it. :)

  4. Notice I've never posted a photo of my laundry room? It is huge, but with 2 litter boxes, a freezer, the washer and dryer, and the entrance to the garage, it is a huge mess!

I have to admit that my pitiful laundry basket is only partly due to the kids. I believe I had it before I got married. Actually I think I had it when I was at Pepperdine my freshman year. So it's 11 years old. I guess I can't complain since it has lasted that long. I'm going to try to check out the ones you described. Maybe online... KMart is pretty out of the way for me.

  6. Frugal Finds, I love my front load washer. It uses less soap, less water, and less energy, and does a great job.

  7. Good for you. The laundryroom and it's equipment seemd to eb one of the main places that people forget about cleaning. It's like the under the fridge, behind the couch area of the house. I try to wipe the washer and dryer while I'm in there to keep down the lint dust and oranize whil waiting for my washer to fill.

I don't have one of the fancy front loaders yet:0)

I hope that you'll stop by and visit my tackle.

  8. I am doing a mini-makeover of my laundry room this week. I like the idea for the grippy drawer liners, I might do that on my dryer. (not the washer 'cause it is not front loading.)

  10. The top of my dryer gets SO loaded up with stuff. I need to go do this too. I love the idea of the grippy shelf cover stuff on top. I'll probably do that. How do you like the front loading washer? I want to get one, but it'll have to wait til the one I've got now goes kaput.

  16. I try to do a weekly wipe down of the wash and dryer, sweep, and dump trash. Every other month or so I give it a good cleaning. BUt my laundry serves as my only storage space. So, I am constantly decluttering this area.

  18. what is up with the lint? It gets everywhere!! and my laundry room is the room I go through on my way in from the garage, so everything collects there....bills, junk mail, church flyers and bulletins... My laundry room needs some serious attention. Yours looks great!
