Storage room

Here's a shot of our newly organized food storage room (formerly the master bedroom closet). I talked about needing to fix things up here in my Week without Groceries posts. I had a hard time getting a good picture of such cramped quarters, so this is what you get.

I thought we had so much extra food until I put it all out on the shelves. It doesn't seem like so much now. We'll keep adding a little bit every week, though, and I'm sure that in a few years it will be a formidable collection.

  1. It looks good. You defiantly have room to grow which is always good. I'd love to see what this closet looks like in a few years.
So I have to ask, if this is your master bedroom closet where do you keep your clothes etc? Just curious. :-)

  2. Looks like you're off to a great start!!
I need to find some place for my food storage. This issue has been on my mind a lot lately. I'm thinking of using the linen closet in the hallway. Not a very big space, but better than nothing, right?

  3. Good question, Jeanette. We actually don't sleep in the master bedroom. It's downstairs and the rest of the bedrooms are upstairs, so during the young children stage of our life, we're sleeping upstairs.

We are planning to move downstairs one day, and at that point, I'm guessing that the food will stay and we'll buy a large wardrobe or something of the sort. The master bedroom is so ridiculously large that there's plenty of room, even though our whole library's in there too.

  4. What a wonderful space to add to. We have so many closets at our house you'd think we would have TONS of space for food storage but we don't. I just put risers on our beds so we could slide cases of food under them, I think the girls' bed is almost as tall as my youngest:)

  7. I love your blog- Food storage is one of those things that seems overwhelming at first but its amazing how fast it builds up. Your food storage post inspired me to write my own food storage post encouraging my friends and family to work on their food storage too!

  8. Right - it's official - i want a storage closet!! In England, our houses are generally smaller and I live in a more than 100 year old Victorian terraced house, so there is definitely no room for one! I will have to get hubby to build a new room on the back of the house!! ;o)

  9. It looks great. You have a lot of room. I am almost, almost done with emptying my fridge and pantry, using the stuff and teaching myself new things.

  10. So we're not the only weirdos who store food in a bedroom closet! :P

  11. Looks great! I am jealous of your closet! I have my food stashed all over the place, and I keep forgetting where I put the list that tells me where it all is!

  12. It looks wonderful. We have very little closet space in our sixties home so we don't have any room to spare. We put our pantry items in a bookcase in our basement. I hope to expand the teeny utility closet one day into a spacious place for our pantry items. You did a great job!!

  14. At least you have one. My food storage consists of two giant shelves, 20 year old food storage that needs to be thrown out, and the rest of our "food storage" is somewhere in the 120 degree garage LOL!
